Hi there and welcome to the forum.

I used to be on the depo provera, but came off it to switch to another method. Don't have any experience of TTC after the depo I'm afraid.

I hope there's someone here who can help.

Good luck with TTC.

Heather x

Hi Naomi,

I am so glad that you have taken this step to post here some may not know it as the depovera injection so here is some read up of what it is.

If you are one of those women who prefer to not have to think about a pill everyday for birth control or the regular use of patches or other types of contraceptives, you may favour a more long term contraceptive, like the birth control shot - depo provera. While extremely effective, depo provera does come with its own pros and cons. Therefore, make sure you are well informed before trying this contraception method.

I am not certain how long it will take afterwards but I guess it all needs to come out of your system. I guess when you stop this injection it can delay the fertility but I would not say this would be a long term thing.

I would certainly say once you stop taking the injection to drink plenty of water, and eat plenty of fruit and veg which may help your body become fertile more quicker.

I hope that you are ok, and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Please feel free to post an introduction in the introduction section and members will welcome you here.

Good Luck I look forward to following your journey.

Shell.
xx

Hi

I've not had experience of TTC after depo but I had a really bad experience on it and wouldn't recommend it. My nurse jabbed me with it without really explaining enough about it! (ggrrr!) anyway long story short I bled for 9 months solid after the injection - best contraception ever for all the wrong reasons! lol!

I know some people who were fine on it, but it was an absolute mare for me!

Re TTC I guess all you can do is come off and as Shell says plenty of fresh fruit, veg, vitamin supplements, exercise and rest. . . oh and plenty of TTC helps too! ;0)

Ive just had my second injection of depo (now have a lovely bruised bum lol!) its working well for me so far

I was told it can take upto 2yrs to get your body back to normal after it, my friend came off it in the october and got pregnant in the march But shes had depo on and off all her life so her body is used to it
