Good Idea - A Way Forward

An idea was put forward by the school that Alex goes to, to be able to provide a text message and email service.
Anything of importance we will receive a text to advise, IE bad weather, school closure and think its a way forward.
I had a text tonight and an email to advise that parents evening is tomorrow.
Do any of your childrens schools do this?

Yes shell Izobeles school does it

i had a text last wednesday reminding the parents that on thursday it was photos

it is a fab thing really stops people phoning the schools all the time xx

I have been meaning to put it on here and completely forgot but least I have done it now. Lyn I agree, last year when we had all the snow alot of moms didnt know the school was shut an we was all texting each other it was awful but least we will find out in time this year.

Our school have been doing text messages for a while now. It's usually reminders about trip money and stuff like that. I agree it's a good service.

Yeah our school does this too, its called 'ParentMail' we also get emails too....

Yeah I think its good, seems like its something that is across the board, only have only recently become active with it.

The school were going to do email and send the newsletters by email as well. I registered my email address with them, got a welcome message from the school, but never got anything else. They are still sending out paper newsletters out on a Friday.

Then they introduced the text messaging service. They use a service called "Groupcall".
