Default Holidays.

Hi All,

Well got a letter from Alex's school today to say that holiday entitlement is changing from 2010 September. If you want to take your child out of school in school time you will now only be allowed 5 days instead of the 10 days.

They said that the first 2 weeks of September is crucial and they will not be allowing any children to take holidays in this time because its important with them starting there new class etc....

They also say that if any child is not done well with attendance I think if its under 90% they will be declined holidays.

Luckily I had Alex's holidays all booked for this year in September because this new rule came out.

Shell I think ours is still 10 days. I can understand them declining holidays if their attendance is not good anyway.

Next year we are most likely going to take a holiday during term time as it's much cheaper, never considered it before but lots of other parents do it.

I am a single Mom dont know how they expect me to pay the prices in school holidays its crazy.
But what choice do you have?
If they are only allowing 5 days its nothing really.

Jayne,
I think its gonna come to all the schools but its already going to be inforce from Sept 2010 at Rosedale and Short Heath etc... but I am not sure what is happening with other schools. It is a tough one but then I think it should be considered depending on the childs sickness records.
Alex had 2 days off in the whole of the year from sept to now and what do you get for it? lol a pencil and that was at last term I think.

Yeah but will anything ever be done the prices just rocket in the school holidays and its just so unfair. I mean especially when schools such as the one Alex goes to now reduces allowance in school time down to 5 days.

The government should step in and make them reduce the holiday prices.
As you all know i take benjamin out during term time, and i would do in the future too, unless they reduce the prices for non term times. We will be going to florida in xmas 2010 hopefully for 3 weeks, so will be taking him out for 2 from school....Just couldnt afford to do disney non term time, plus it would be too hot.
