Karen - How many holiday days are you allowed in Benjamins school then? And if you are taking him out for 3 weeks does this mean you could fix a penalty fine. I am 1 day over with Alex's holidays in Sept he as got to have 11 days and I have already had a letter to say I could end up with a fine.

Hi All,

Well we had the updated letter with holidays on and there was a reminder on there to let us know that the holidays are 5 days now and not 10 days. I cant believe they have dropped this down to 5 days.

he is allowed 10 days in a school year. This year if we go to euro disney it will be in easter hols, the summer one will be in hols, but that may not happen now as the couple we go with cant get time off work.... disney floriday will be when he is in year 3 so a new school year and will only be a total of 7 days of school time off as the rest will be in holiday time.

I can't believe you're only allowed 5 days Shell. I would've thought it would be same over the whole country!!

Ours is also 10 days, and I may have to use 5 days for Braden as Jeff won't be able to take any time off in the summer as he will be on a course. Hopefully we are going somewhere in June when Jeff's home

That's really bad. We haven't had a letter to say it's changed at our school, but it's only a matter of time I guess.

I think we are the first and wont be the last, you are not allowed to take the time either if your child is below a certain % for having time off ill.
The amount of Moms I hear that say there children have been sent letters for having time off school is crazy. xx

Well Shell, you know how much it saved us last year, we took the twins at the end of September and it cost around £2000, (Mom and Dad had Tanya in with them and we got Kyle in free) no such luck this year cos of going in school holidays, cost £3990 And we have to find almost £400 for holiday insurance. Why don`t we all just say to headmasters/headmistresses LEA`s, NO MORE SNOW DAYS! and WHY DON`T SCHOOLS HAVE FLOATING HOLIDAYS LIKE OTHER PROFESSIONS? Then the Holiday companies couldn`t hike up prices. Kids would be happier. Parents would be happier. Teachers would be able to float theirs too, but no-one would feel they were being taken advantage of. Factories do it, offices do it, hospitals do it, why is it so difficult for schools?
