Default Living Eggs Project

In Braden's class this week they are doing a "living eggs project".

On Monday a box of eggs were delivered and they had to be kept them in an incubator and they will hatch sometime this week.

The kids have been so excited and were always watching the incubator to see if anything is happening.

Well this morning I made Braden get to school early so we could see if they had hatched yet and THEY HAD

They are so cute! 4 of them hatched in the night and they have been moved to another box with a heat lamp in etc. They are yellow and fluffing up nicely 2 hatched this morning so they are still in the incubator and are all wobbly and have grey feathers still. While we were looking in the incubator there was another one trying to hatch (his egg was all cracked and I could see him moving inside). I got all excited until Braden's teacher told me that it would be another hour yet

I just wish I was in his class now to see it hatch.

There were 2 others that had cracked a bit, and one poor little egg that was still completely intact so I'm not sure if that will hatch.

I think it's such a good idea for the children to see the chicks hatching.

We did that last year, although I can't do it this year because one of my class has an egg allergy. Watching the eggs hatch is the most amazing thing and I got no work done for a couple of days while they hatched.

But those chicks grow really quickly and when I had to bring them home for the weekend they were noisy and smelly and lost the cute factor!

Are you going to have some of the chicks when the project finishes, Nikki?

I remember doing this when I was at school and it's so great to see.

Do they also have a special lamp to see in the egg?? I remember we had one and you could see the size of chick/embryo inside.
