Olivia has dinners but Jack and Katie take packed lunch.

They have a sandwich (Katie either cheese or ham, Jack a DRY brown roll!!), then they have a yoghurt (remember a spoon, or frubes are good as seemingly you can freeze them and they'll be defrosted by lunchtime and help to keep other stuff cool), they have some sort of fruit (Jack usually has 2 pieces, usually apples, bananas, orange chopped up in a leak proof bowl (remember a fork!), strawberries or grapes). Then they have something sweet - a penguin or a couple of cookies.

Mine only take water to drink. I know that a lot of people get uptight about what they are and aren't allowed to take but think it was mainly done to stop the poor kids that were going to school with a packet of crisps and a can of coke!

Mine occasionally get some crisps in as a treat.

Tescos do some ace small round containers like the lock n lock ones that are leak proof and are really easy to open.

Deacans havin packed lunch mainly because we couldnt afford to pay the £1.60 a day for it, but when serenna starts it works out to be like £70 a month just on school dinner then its extra for snack time fruit and milk (which i think is over £1 so thats £2 a week ontop when both go)

Plus Deacans really easy to feed sandwhich, loads of fruit and a yoghurt, im going to try pasta e.t.c in a few weeks see how he gets on

He has a ben 10 lunch bag which he choose

I know what you mean hun about dinners. Ours are £1.70 a day which is £68 a month for the 2 of them and we can't really afford it, but can't claim for free meals cos we're not on benefits.

They seem to like packed lunches though. Aside from the sandwiches, I put some fruit in (the little bags of apples/grapes from Asda are good), or a banana, plus a yoghurt or jelly. I do put crisps in, but it's usually the light ones such as quavers or french fries. You have to pay for the school fruit juice, so they have their own bottle each for squash or juice. An occasional treat of a mini muffin or small cake goes down well.

I pay for them both to have milk, which is £9.80 per term each, so that will last until Xmas.

Some of the people I spoke to said they will chop up some apple but won't it go brown?
Any ideas?
If I put a whole apple in Alex will only take a few bites and will not want anymore.

Shell - I usually get the little bags from Asda with chopped apple and grapes, I think they're only 20p at the moment and they stay fresh.

Yeah I know what you mean about putting whole apples in, Louise & Charlotte do the same and a lot gets wasted.

To be honest I shop at Sainsburys or Morrisons and they are more money in there. Alex dont tend to do them in them sort of bags, may just send him some grapes and chopped up plum I will see lol.

I buy the bags of little Gala apples that the supermarkets do. Not dear and the apples are tiny so they tend to be easier for them to finish.

Not sure if all schools are the same but at my kids school when they've finished eating they go out to play - and i expect if their friends are outside its very tempting for them to not finish their food because they want to get out too.

When I was at school we had 2 "sittings" and you sat there till the end of it even if you'd finished eating

I am not sure how it works Jeanette I heard that if the child hadn't finished they was not allowed out. I have the small apples and going to put one in Alex's bag least he's got it there then anyway.

Deacan has little gala apples,
This week hes had Monday: chicken sandwhich, banana, apple, pear and a rocky bar oh and a frube.
Tuesday: mini sausage roll x2, banana, orange and strawberries and a frube
today ham snadwhich, banana, apple and pear, frube and a hervest bar

He seems to be eating it all lol

School dinners is actually £1.70 a day, although they do look yummy lol its also 50p a week for snack, so it all adds up, heather we dont get any benefits either so its all counting the pennies these days!
