Alexander starts school dinners and snacks next week. We will run with this for a while, see how much he eats and then if he wants to revert to packed lunches we will.

I need to speak to the teachers its terrible, Alex all day from 07:45 had eaten 1 packet of wotsits and half a banana all day. This to me is not right, and then I don't pick him up till 17:30 he was so hungry when he got home.
Going to speak to teacher on Thursday.

Benjamin used to eat a lot more when in reception...think its cos they got took into the dinner hall first, and they came out last. Now he isnt eating so much and when i ask him why its cos he says he ran out of time cos he did too much talking...i have told him he needs to stop talking and eat more...bless.
Also i know that his class and mrs budds class take it in turns to go into the hall first, one week its his, then the next its the other class...this also has an influence on what he eats..he eats less when in second, they get about 10 mins more in there if in first...a big difference really.
i hope Alex starts eating better for you Shell

Shell, that is a terrible diet for Alex?? Did he say whay he hadn't eaten his packed lunch.?? I would do what you say you are going to do and see the teacher.

You would think they would notice that his lunch box was coming back full!!

Let me know how you get on.

Karolyn
I did speak to the fun club today and they spoke to the teachers but they said they can not force him to eat and he will only eat what he wants to eat which I understand but I said I don't think its very good when he's going all day with hardly anything this is my only concern at the moment.

hi shell i understand your concerns about alex not eating cause im having the same problem with tyler he doesnt seem to eat anything but its like one of the other ladies said if he was really hungry he would eat, thats what i have to keep telling myself with my little man!! it is hard to ignore it cause as caring mothers it is natural to worry. if he is not used to having sandwiches then it will take a while to adjust.kayla is doing brilliant with her packed lunch but we always have cobs or sanwiches for lunch in the week so she is used to it!

the lunch time is a bit strange though especially as young children tend to take their time when they eat, they should allow them a bit more time at their age.

Jenny,
Alex can be a pain when it comes to meals but I am just going to have to ride with it. The teachers have said there is no way they can force a child to eat which I completely understand. He eats his pasta and then he had dairylea dunkers and had that today and some cake. They say no sweets etc... b ut did put him a cake in which I knew he would eat.
I have cooked him some more pasta 2nite for 2morrow with his chopped up salad and will know he will eat it.
Love

Well Alexander has moved to packed lunches for the time being.

The school dinner is now £2.00 a day, but Alexander would go to the dining hall and have a bagel/toast etc for snack and a drink, and that you be in total an extra £1.

So i sent him last week with a packed lunch. It is hard to decide what to give them as the school does not allow, biscuits, crisps, sweets chocolates etc. (although i would rarely give him these things a fun sized chocolate bar would have been a nice treat!!!)

What kind of snacks do you put in your childrens lunch boxes, i am trying to get some ideas. ???
