Default Finger - Hospital Visit.

when i was in cornwall last week i shut my finger in a car door on the monday and was in a bit of pain but because i was with my friends and her family i did not want to worry and make them feel bad so i just pretended i did not know what id done and ignored the pain i was in. i know i should of gone to hospital but did not want to cause a fuss.
when i got back on saturday my finger was still swollen, could not bend it and it looked horrible so i decided to go to the walk in centre and waited in there for an hour to be told i needed to go to A&E to have an x ray because he did not know whether it was broken.
the nurse had a look and said she was gonna put a needle through my nail and into my finger to release the pressure omg that hurt i could feel the needle scraping on the bone she managed to get some blood out and release some pressure but it really knocked me about i nearly fainted after id had it done and felt sick for the rest of the afternoon.
when the nurse was doing my finger she said she did not know why the walk in centre could not of done it. didnot even have to have an x ray.
have now got to wear a plaster on it for a few days and then when the nail comes off (which is like a 95% chance) ive got to put another plaster on to help prevent infection. i have also got to keep an eye on it for any signs of an infection and if i notice any i have to go and see my doctor for some antibiotics.
but apart from that i had a good holiday. sorry for long post

Omg, i do so feel for you as i have had to have it done a few times...infact they used a red hot paperclip at the hospital once to go through my thumb nail as the needle wouldnt go through. At least it will have a good chance of healing easier now.

I was always doing it at work, worked as a sheet metal worker operating fly presses to bend the metal...sometimes i didnt move my fingers out the way quick enough. Either that or i would cut them open on the sheet metal...once i nearly lost the end of one finger using the guititine.... still went back into work after they sorted me at the hospital...lol.

And yes the paper clip did hurt..took her about 5 attempts to get it to go through, so i knew how it was going to hurt..but boy the relief after soon took the pain away.
