Default help! how and where to start on dry through nite???

i have 3yr 3 months son, i have no idea when i should start trying to get him dry at night.
some mornings he's only a little bit wet so was figuring if i toileted him when i go to bed he might go rest of night, but then others nights hes soaked!
to make it more confusing, i'm expecting second bubs in july, should i wait til after then! i know hes still quite young and all are different but not really sure on average age!
any advice greatfully received! lol

Hi there, i wouldnt stress too much about it at night time, he will do it when he is ready. My son was 1 week short of being 3 when dry during the day, but it took another year before he was dry at night. I kept tryng but he kept wetting. I started using the pampers bedsheets on top of his sheet in the end to save on washing...that sure helped me feel less stressed. It might be an idea to wait till summer when he doesnt need to wear pjs over the pull ups. Do you have a potty beside his bed so he knows he can get out to go on his own? (although my son still called me in to help him....lol)

wishing you all the best with this one.

Hello Kankan - welcome back

Firstly I wouldnt stress about it but we all have different views on this one, I would certainly try and see how it goes and like Karen said get some of those pampers bedcovers they will certainly help.

With Alex he was dry day and night within 4 weeks and I was pleased with this, in this 4 weeks I had 2 wet beds but because I had the pampers and protectors it wasnt so bad and didnt really have any problems.

Keep us posted how it goes good luck.

Hi Karen.

There really isn't an age thing on this, it's just when you feel the child is ready.

I had a nightmare with Braden, he's 5 and he's only just dry in the night. He was dry in the day a few weeks before his 3rd birthday, but would still wet at night. He's such a deep sleeper that he couldn't wake up! Something must've just clicked over christmas though as he's now dry!

So, if you think you want to try Jamie without a nappy at night then go for it, but please don't feel stressed or pressured by other people who have been fortunate with their kids to be dry straight away.

Hi Kankan welcome back too.

Like the others have said, if Jamie has cracked the day time brillinat, but don't worry about the night. My son wasn't dry at night until he was nearly 4, so my advice would be stick to the pull ups/pyjama pants for now and just judge on how dry he is every morning.

We used to walk Alexander to the loo before we went to bed...sounds cruel but he would have a wee and go back to bed. And then he would last till morning.

Congratulations to hear you are expecting around July time.

Karen

I agree with what the others have said your son will be dry in his own time, i must say them pampers bed sheets are fab i still use them for izzy but its justas protection as she falls asleep with her juice bottle and we normal get leaks lol.

Izobele was dry day and night within 2 weeks at 2 1/2 yrs old but she is a girl and girls tend to pick it up quicker i know some boy who is 5 and at school and still not dry at night but it will come in its own time

so please dont worry.
Congrats on the 2nd one you got your work cut out lol. do you know what your having?

Hiya

Firstly congrats on the news your expecting baby No 2 in July. What date are you due?

My Daughter is 2 and half now. She is mainly dry through the night but we do have some wet nights. We always make sure she goes to the toilet before going to bed and then when we go up to bed we always put her on the potty in her bedroom. Most nights she will then stay dry through the night but we have had some nights where she hasnt. I will not go back to putting nappies on her as we have more dry nights than wet ones.

Every mother and child is different. Maybe you could try a week of doing the above and see how you get on. If you dont feel ready then wait another couple of weeks and think about it then.

xx

thanks all for replying!
think i might wait a while as theres probably more wetter pull up nights than not at moment, although think i'm gonna start putting him on pot before we go to bed and see if that has any difference!
Have had the pampers sheets on bed under his sheet for a while as sometimes pullups leak, being a little boy when little things move around, i'm sure any of u mums with boys know what i mean!!! lol

thanks for all congrats messages, bubs is due 10th july, we cant wait and jamie is sooooo excited, watching my tummy grow, as hes constantly telling me and asking is it big enough yet!

Rrrr Karen I love to hear about your pregnancy and you must come back and keep us posted on it all.

I completely understand I used to find sometimes that Alex's nappy would leak from time to time and this was when he was in pjs and wonder why he was soaked but realised it would be from weeing he used to wee so much in the night but then when he was potty trained it all stopped.
