How Are The Fussy Eaters Doing?

For those that have fussy eaters how are they getting on with food, have you found anything that seems to be working? please feel free to share any ideas.

Still fussy shell....lol. To be honest i am just greatfull he eats something at all at the moment.

well i have come to the end of my tether and im taking izzy to drs this week as i dont know what else to do

she just wont eat i even ask her what she wants i cook it then she just sits there for and hour+ not wanting it, im worried as izzy has already got a wobbly tooth and she is only 5 maybe they are just getting younger i dont know!
also she does swimming on a tuesday night and now wants to do gymnastics on a wednesday morning but im worrying where all her energy is gonna come from as weds will be a long day for her as gymnastics is at 8am then she will get changed and go straight into class. its amazing as she hardly eats but yet doesnt go to sleep till about 9pm (she is in bed at 7.30pm) she never sits still she just goes on and on. im also gonna ask about vitamins for her to

Lyn, sounds to me ike you have a really energetic child.
I would encourage all the exercise she wants to do, but i do see where you are worried about her eating. Usually when they dont eat properly they pick up all sorts of bugs etc, because they can't fight off infection, if she is full of energy all teh better.

If Izzy doesn't eat dinner, will she eat treats?? Sweets etc. Don't think i would worry about the wobbly tooth too much- but yes i do think professional advice would be good.

How is Alexie?? Is she going to be a good eater?? Let us know how you get on, xx

karolyn izzy is energetic all the time she has bundles of energy, but i worry she isnt getting all her protein carbs etc yes karolyn you can offer her sweets and other junk and she will eat it but i dont let her if she doesnt eat her meals she gets no treats, she does pick up a lot of bugs but then on the other hand she gets flu jabs etc because she is asthmatic so she does fight them off quite quickly although touch wood she hasnt been really poorly for over a year she has had colds and coughs but nothing bad but i think thats cause she had the flu jab.

my friends daughter has a wobbly tooth and she is a few months younger than izzy so i feel at ease on that now.

i just want some help even if its them build up milkshakes as i know she would enjoy them just to build her up she is skinny can see her spine ribs and her pop belly is flattening out .

karolyn i will have no proplem with alexie she will try anything and eat nearly everything she will give anything ago and if she dont like she will still eat it but just say yak lol i think seeing what lexi puts away makes me worry on how little izzy eats
alexie will eat nearly the same portion as me which is probably 3 times more than izzy

What is she eating then Lyn? Does she have her breakfast and lunch okay and it's just dinner (or tea if you call it that ) that she won't eat?

I used to stress so badly over Braden's eating - he's still very fussy now, but I am not worrying anymore, he is healthy and active.

He is super skinny too - I can see his ribs and his spine etc. and he is like a pencil.

Balian used to be a great eater, but he's turning a bit fussy now too and I wonder if it's cos he watches Braden!

I hope the doc can help you with some advise....benjamin is still fussy, infact i think he is even worse now....as he is so stubborn. When he says he cant eat something, then he wont, no matter how much we go on at him.

As for the tooth, he lost his first one at just over 5, so its quite normal.

nikki she sometimes eats her breakfast as for lunch well thats the same and so is tea
she is really fussy the stuff she normal likes she now wont touch and will not try anything new i am just stressing and worrying now like Braden she is skinny.

karen i have found izobele has got fussier

sorry forgot to come on and update.

Took Izzy the drs told him my concerns and how i was getting very stressed with izzy's eating or better put it not eating.

he is starting with basics he weighed her and she is over a stone under weight, she has also lost a pound in 2 months as she was weighed in nov to have her flu jab. so he wasnt happy about that. i have got to take her to have bloody tests he wants to rule out any underlining problems 1st then we start from there if they come back clear he did give me some worming medicine although he doesnt think she has he justed want to be sure, ( i always thought if you had worms you ate more, but apparently its a myth)

anyway i told him about the chart i was gonna try with her for to try new foods if she gets 5 stars in one week she gets a treat but i would be banning chocolate crisps sweets and biscuits although she doesnt eat many sweets and choclates. he was fine with me to do that and said i would need to be doing over several months if not for a very long time. he asked what i meant by a treat and i told him it would be her choice if she asked for choclate then she would get a small bar he was fine with it.

he said if she refuses to eat to just take it away and tell her she could leave the table if she then comes out with later she is hungry then i am to offer her fruit and fruit only. i told him she had started drinking horlicks before bed and he said it was fine as it may help to fill her up a bit and to settle of a night to.

so i have to take her back in 2 months seems a long time but i wont see any progress if i keep going back every month etc.

im scared about it all and how she will cope and i have had my mil going on that she will think she is bad as she doesnt get treats and will start going against me, but i will be following it through with alexie to really no treats unless dinner is eaten which i do with her anyway, i said izzy can say what she likes this is how im doing it i also told her she is not to have anything at her house either or else i will not bring her round and the same for my parents my dad and stepmom are really good though what i say goes etc but mil and fil are not and i know things will be given to her behind my back thats why i said you go against me and she wont come round. mil also been going on that if i have banned all her treats and she dont eat she will feel ill and maybe pass out i just told her she will get it through fruit and stuff so its not like im gonna make her starve. she is doing my head in about it she actually said to me earlier that when she babysat them a few months ago izzy started crying, she said she asked her what was wrong and apparently izzy said "i dont like my mommy sometimes" i went quite sharp with her and said why say that to me now to make me feel guilty that im banning all treats i said do you want your grandaughter to be ill and stuff when she is older and never eat anything i said dont tell me silly things like that as i dont need it, she said she had asked her why she said it and it was because i tell her off for not listening or eating her tea, i said she was probably like it cause she knows she can wrap you round her little finger and you give into her and it was actually all over neil had warned her to behave and go to bed when told to (normally when we are out we come home to find her still awake which is round about midnightish) she is just doing my head in but im not taking any more notice.

so this is where we will be starting off chart starts on sunday so will keep updating are progress, izzy knows whats going on as i have sat and had a chat with her i have aslo told her that while she is learning to eat new foods mommy is giving up her nasty habit of smoking so we will have to help each other out, izzy was great and said so we will bother be trying to do something bless her xxxxx
