Well let me tell you Shell, as I am going through this right now and I think the best advice I can give to others is to communicate with your children even if they can't fully understand you. I find Quincy is alot more mellow because he has learned that it is wrong to throw tantrums for things that he can't have. Overall he is alot more pleasant than he was about a month ago. You just take it a day at a time, all kids go through it you just have to be patient and explain to them that it is wrong.

Absolutely agree with Jazzy!

I think we can underestimate just how much children can take on board and from a young age too!

With Oliver, talking things through with him helped a lot. I used to sit him somewhere quiet and talk to him. If he was in a state and beyond talking to, I would take him to calm down first then speak to him.

It was trial and error but just talking to ollie as calmly as I could has been the best way.
I smacked his bum once and it was totally ineffective - just mad him madder!!!! Funny as I was brought up being smacked and thought that's just what you did so was quite a shock to find it didn't do anything except wind him up more!

Thankfully now he's 5 he hardly ever has a tantrum and it's really good he can articulate things before he loses it now

Ooooooooooooo i am sure i am going through these some days, well not me but Jazmine!!LOL

She can have a paddy when she wants too especially if she doesnt get what she wants. She just storms off moaning and plonks herself on the floor!! She hasnt done it in public yet and i am dreading it when she does!!LOL

Any advice would be greatfully received as i am sure they will only get worse! x

Oh hun I have been there with Alex throwing himself on the floor in a shop just because I wont give in. Its the worst thing ever to see people just look at you. I feel my cheeks go red but luckily he does not do it now. I have walked away from him in the shops if he does it and he soon realizes and comes after me lol. He knows I dont go far but to know that I am not going to stand there and make a fuss just makes him realize he needs to stand up and get over it.

I've had to start to give Lily time out, she's got a horrible temper and beats up on Morgan.

I would ignore mine, or explain the reason why they cant have/touch something it seems to work as it is very rare they have a strop now. Deacan throws little wobbles but is so easy to get out of them just by talking to him.

I do sit them outside in the hallway by the frontdoor, and i have smacked which i hate because i feel ive lost control so i dont do it every often and always explain why ive smacked them as well something along the lines of "mummy is sorry she hurt you but you..... and scared/upset mummy" etc

We had a telling them what they were doing is wrong try, but didn`t always work. Which ultimately ended in the 1-2-3-bed countdown. The only trouble is when anyone started to ask them what came after 3 they used to reply "bed", don`t know which was more embarrassing, terrible tantrums or explanations of why we never got to 4.

Unhappy your help

I have to say as i am a terrible two myself if your child dosn`t want there breakfast just tell them they will be the one who is hungry and they might start to eat it. Also if your child is naughty don`t treat them just tel them they can`t play with something they really like for say a week. the time is linked to how bad it is.
sorry if this addvise dosn`t work
