Default Allowing Your Child A Mobile Phone

Hi All,

This is just a thread to see what the comments are, what age would you allow your child a mobile phone? and would it be one of the top ranged mobile phones?

Alexander will have a pay as you go one at some stage, but i don't think he needs it until he is at High school.

My dad has an ipod touch and he keeps asking for one of those......Alexander is a gadget boy..!!

I think I would let them have one, but as Karolyn said, not until senior school. It wouldn't be an expensive one, just a bottom of the range PAYG.

It would be reassuring to get a little text or even a phone call to say they were ok and coming home at so and so time. When I was young you had to rely on being able to use the phone at your friends house (if they even had one) or using the local call box.

I wont allow my kids to have one till senior as they shouldnt be anywhere an adult is not with them til then , kids grow up far too quickly - they should be kids . I struggled buying Adam a DS as i like them to play with what i call proper toys and not be stuck infront of a gadget all day . --sorry going off subject a bit , just think its sad to see kids growing up before they have a chance to be a kid x
