Default How does your child react with Strangers?

Hi All,

Just wondering how your child reacts around strangers?

I thought I would let you know but when I took Alex shopping last week in Sainsburys I was at the till putting the shopping away and there was people behind me. This man came forward and offered Alex 50p and said to him come with me to buy you a new balloon, Alex looked at me and said NO I stay with my Mommy. The man then said no you will be fine we need to get you a new balloon because your other one as burst.

I turned round to the man and I said excuse me my Son has been taught not to go off with strangers you should be thinking what your saying in this day and age. He then held Alex's hand and said I was going to get him a balloon. I said you may of been wanting to get him a balloon but there are some horrible people in this world you cant trust.

He then said he was sorry for everything he had said he just said he thought Alex was adorable and wanted to get him a new balloon. His wife then turned up and asked what was going on and he explained and then they started to have a quabble about it all.

I just think in this day and age you can never be too careful, he was elderly but regardless it could of been something more serious, if it had continued I would of called for security.

Love
Shell.xx

Benjamin also knows not to go off with anyone. He knows its ok to talk to police etc but not anyone he doesnt know.
Alex did well to say that.

Omg shell

the thing is the older generations dont understand what we do in this day and age.

well done alex though.
I have to say Izzy is shy she will instantly turn away from anyone who will try and talk to her. she also knows that she must never go anywhere with any one she doesnt know unless its the police.

dont know about alexie she waves and smiles at anyone lol

Blimey Shell!! How frightening - I think you can never be too careful and I think older people don't appreciate how dangerous things are these days.
Ollie is told never to talk to strangers or take anything, and I am sure he wouldn't as he takes aaaaages to warm to people, even when he meets people from my family for the first time!

Did the guy really think you were going to let him take Alex off to get a balloon??? Mad!

Good on Alex for not going!

Braden is very shy with people he doesn't know and he knows he's not to go anywhere with a stranger, not even the police! Anyone could dress as a police officer!!

I was thankful that he didnt go it is so frightening in this day and age whilst the man may not of thought he could of easily taken him and I may never of seen him again. I just drum it into him all the time never to trust anyone.
