This is quite a tale A few weeks ago I caught Ryan and his friend looking very guilty. When I questioned them Ryan admitted they had been playing thowing pebbbles from the drive in the air and catching them but he had missed and the pebble had hit the car. They said it had gone on the bonnet. I had a good look and all seemed ok so i told them how dangerous it could have been and left it there. That weekend there was one of those free chip repair services at Sainsburys so we pulled in to ask if they could do the chip in our panoramic roof. Del pulled the inside cover back and there it was a chip the size of a 10p with huge crack lines all round it. Del phoned autoglass and was told panoramic roofs were not covered as windowscreens they were a dealer only part. So when Del phoned peugot the cost was £1069 plus VAT plus labour ![]() So then Del phoned our insurance company to be told that it was very possible that due to the cost being close to the value of the car it was very likey they would write the car off rather than do the work. ![]() We can't afford to go into debt for a car but the money we get back if it is wrote off is not enough for another plus we have just had a tow bar fitted which cost us £120 and it only fits peugot 307's The MOT is due this week but when we checked with our mechanic it would still pass with a cracked roof and if the roof did go the cover was designed to protect the inside of the car. He suggested we do nothing for a while and see if the crack got worse. So we decided to do this and the MOT is booked for this Thursday THEN......... Del swatted a fly on the windsreen and the whole of the bottom of the screen cracked. There was another chip that we hadn't notced which had weakened the glass. The car wouldn't pass the MOT with the windscreen cracked so we phoned auoglass again and a very nice man came out on Saturday morning to replace it for us.... BUT.... when he got here he had brought the wrong windscreen with him... which in the end turned out to be a good thing because the man that came out to us really knew his stuff and it turns out that panoramic roofs are classed as windscreens on insurance policies. Our policy allows work of up to £1000 and the roof & windsceen together come to £950 so all we have to pay is £75 and we don't loose any no claims. As you can imagine we were both well happy on Saturday afternoon. Del took me to merryhill and I spent a fortune on new clothes. The car is being mended on Wednesday just in time for the MOT on Thursday. We are just keeping our fingers crossed that it passess the MOT now I told you it was quite a tale xx |

Hello Clare, Oh my days what a nightmare for you, hope my car wasn't on the drive when the kids was throwing stones. I just think its awful we have enough with footballs being up in the close and all the kids who don't even live up our close playing up here should play down there own end. * RANT OVER * I am just glad that it all came in favour for yourselves and its not cost you all that money, I bet you have sat down and spoke to Ryan about not throwing stones now ain't ya, it could of been more serious. Could you imagine if the stones had hit any of the neighbours cars and they had been seen the neighbours would of been knocking your door and could of been even worse oh my days. Shell. xx |

Shell your car was on your drive (it was while you were on Holiday it happened) Ryan and Chloe know not to play round other peoples cars or on their drives... (shame the same can't be said for other kids in the street kids I don't even know playing hide and seek winds me up) Chloe and Ryan get a roasting if I see them doing it. I think this happening has taught them a valuable lesson that when we tell them not to do something it's for a very good reason. I'm also glad Ryan owned up it was him..... imagine if it had been Oliver. His mom would have been mortified and where would she have found the money to fix the damage. have you seen Mike's car with the dents in it from footballs?????? it will probably reduce the value of it when he comes to sell it on. Anyway more good news is my car passed the MOT so I am very happy xx |
