Default NITS- horrible little blighters

Hello......... where do i start!!!! I am thinking of doing an online petition to get the nit nurse back in school...... this has been an ongoing problem now since Lauren (aged 13) was at infant school. It seems to be one of those initiation tests, once you start shool, they join your hair, and it seems that there is one lazy parent who cant be arsed to comb there child's hair through......... I know that sounds harsh but if you are like me who combs there child's hair through every time they wash it, then you will understand how frustrated i feel. apart from shaving there hair off i dont know what else to do, I think now is the time to go the old fashioned route and name and shame the parents with a letter home, schools are no longer obliged to tell you if your child or class has nits. moan over xx

Funny you should mention this....we had yet another letter home a couple of days ago saying there was a case of nits in the class.....again!
I am always rummaging through the kids hair as they have both had them once before (at nursery) and im paranoid they will get them again.

Don't mention the nit nurse, I remember ours when I was little and Im scarred for life, very scary women!! lol

Our nit nurse at primary school was scarey too, felt like she was stabbing my head with a knitting needle.

We haven't had nits yet, but there is always an update on the school website whenever they are doing the rounds.

Alexander uses a tea tree shampoo on advice from another mum, hopefylly this keeps the nits away!!!

Good luck Emma, i take it Lauren has them ......its alot of cleaning and washing to try and get rid of the little blitters.!!

i check benjamins hair everyday too, and use the teatree shampoo and conditioner(not sure if it was me who told you karolyn)
i would hate to have to go through a girls hair, it takes long enough to go through benjamins and his is short.

We have had our fair share of the little critters in our house. And it's usually Charlotte that comes home with them.

It's a real nightmare and it always seems to happen when they are due a haircut, which means the hairdresser won't cut their hair if they've got them.

I have always found tea tree works for me and a real good come through with the nitty gritty comb.

By the way, I used to love going to the nit nurse.

Hi Emma,

I know what you mean here about nit nurse but that shampoo should do the trick. I so remember when Alex got them and I ended up with them too and it was vile I got so upset with it all. I just wanted to shave all my hair off and then I brought some stuff from the chemist about £13 but it done the trick and he's not had any since.

It does become frustrating enough but the thing is apparently they only live in clean hair not sure the truth in this one.

It's a nightmare isn't it - and you're not being harsh. The same child has brought nits to Ollie's class 5 times now!!! Why on earth aren't the parents being called in and spoken to?!
Luckily Ollie has never picked them up as I check everyday and comb through his hair.
I also use Voseen 2 in 1 head lice repellent shampoo on Ollie and the leave in spray which you can pick up in Boots or Tesco. It's got Tea tree in it which doesn't smell great but it seems to keep the nits away!
